When you donate money to Community Action Team, you’re helping in many ways. Often times the dollar you contribute has a geometric affect… leveraged with other sources of funding, cash donations go a long way.
EXAMPLES OF DIRECT DOLLAR DONATIONS:
Emergency Energy Assistance:
$1 Will buy a family one day of electric service
$10 Will buy a family 3 bags of wood pellets, enough to heat their home for an average of 45 days.
$25 Will buy a family 10 gallons of propane, enough to heat their home/cook/heat water for an average 21 days.
$50 Will buy a family half a month of average use with NW Natural Gas
$75 Will buy a family sixty days of water usage
$100 Will buy a family a cord of wood, enough to heat their home for 60 days in winter.
$150 Will buy a family 60 gallons of oil, an average monthly usage.
Your donation, when matched with other federal, state and local sources, actually equates to around $5. Your $50 donation makes a $250 difference.
EMERGENCY HOUSING SERVICES:
$1 will purchase a basic personal hygiene item
$5 will pay for a bus voucher to get to a doctor’s office
Will pay for toilet paper
Will pay for female personal items for two months
$10 will pay for a gas voucher to get to work in Portland for a day
Will pay for diapers for a child for a week
$25 will pay one days’ rent
Will pay for a doctor’s co-pay
Will pay for a client to obtain a birth certificate
Will pay for baby formula for a week
$50 will pay for screening fees, photo ID, or a post office box
These are the biggest barriers for our homeless families and individuals. They must have ID to obtain basic needs, such as food stamps, housing vouchers, etc.
$100 will help with a security deposit
Will help prevent an eviction
Will provide a two-night stay at a hotel or shelter
Will pay for screening fees for a family
Will pay for car insurance for a family for a month

SENIOR & RESPITE SERVICES
1. Your gift of only $ 9.23 would provide one hour of respite care for a family care provider who is caring for a family member with a serious disease or disabling condition.
2. Your continuing gift of $10.00 per month would provide 14 hrs of respite care.
3. Your gift of $150.00 would provide one month of in-home direct care services to one vulnerable senior through our Oregon Project Program
4. Your gift of $500.00 would provide an average of four hours a month of respite care for one full year to a family care provider caring for a family member with a serious disabling condition.
VETERAN’S SERVICE:
Your contribution of $150.00 would help a veteran receive specialized benefits counseling from a qualified Veteran Services Officer, to assist in helping to a veteran to receive needed assistance and support. This service is provided at no cost to Veterans
Each dollar which a Veteran receives in benefits turns into approximately $6 in the community, through the economic effect of bringing that income into their household. The average recovery for our Veteran’s has been $22,000, with many significantly more, depending on the disability benefits. Over $750,000 in cash has been recovered for our county’s Veterans in the past 3 years.
