Emergency & Transitional Rental Assistance

Community Action Team, Inc.  has very limited funding to help families who request emergency funding.  We are constantly seeking funds to provide emergency assistance.  However, given the high demand for this assistance we are often without available funds.  These resources are subject to availability.

To apply for emergency help you must call the telephone number above and leave a message requesting an appointment to determine eligibility and availability of funds. Your voice mail message must include a phone number where you can be reached.   You must be established in Columbia County for six months or longer.

Transitional Housing Programs:

Transitional Housing Programs are a 12-24 month program for individuals and families who are homeless or in unstable housing.  Families are encouraged and supported in their efforts to become financially self-sufficient and to strengthen family relationships.  
Community Action Team, Inc provides Case Management services for individuals and families with children living in Columbia County.   Case managers’ help families define goals, identify resources and address barriers to stable housing.

Emergency Rental Assistance 

  • One time rental assistance
  • Must show ability to afford rent in the future.
  • Once per year

Homeless Counseling

 

Process includes intake of prospective client, assessment of needs, provides referrals for services and offers advocacy.  Collaboration with shelter providers, homeless advocates, community service providers, and the legal community.

Preparation securing or maintaining rental housing.  Provides case management, budget counseling, referral for tenant/landlord issues and rights and responsibilities in maintaining safe and secure housing.
