Veterans:

Community Action Team is currently seeking a new Veteran's Services Officer. In the meantime, we will be unable to take any new appointments for seeking Service Connected Benefits (disability, death, widows, pensions, etc). Depending on the service you need, please follow the directions below.

Any Veteran seeking services please call either Portland (503) 412-4777 or Salem (800) 828-8801 for :

New Claims You will be sent a Power of Attorney and the staff will file an Informal Claim to save your effective date of claim. When Columbia County has a new VSO, the new staff will formalize that claim.
Re-Open Claims Providing new and material evidence will be handled through either Portland or Salem.

Increases for Existing Claims

Portland or Salem will turn in the form required. You will need to provide the evidence to substantiate the fact that you need an increase.
Provide More Evidence After talking to either Portland or Salem, you will send your evidence and they will submit it for you.
Health Care Contact the Portland VA Medical Center office to enroll via telephone (503) 220-8262
General Benefits Information Contact Portland or Salem for answers.
Needing An Appeal Contact Portland or Salem and the staff will do a quick appeal to save your effective date.

For those individuals needing a DD-214, CAT will be able to help you with that. Please contact Pam Daniel, SSVF Case Manager, 503-366-6591. You will need a DD-214 to participate with the SSVF program.

Thank you for your patience as we search for a new Veteran's Service Officer.
